Abstract

One of the most important consequences of contemporary Arabic poetry is the presence of women and their political participation. The aim of this research is to investigate the political participation of women in the poems of Fadwa Tuqan and Nazik Al-Malaika and the role of these two female poets in awakening the Arab nation and fighting against colonialism. The active political participation and presence of women has gained a special place today. And it has been supported by liberation movements, human rights and democratic currents. Women's poetry is full of pain and tears. Female poets have used more symbols to express their feelings. The poetry of each period is a mirror that reflects the events and problems of that period, and on the other hand, poets influence those events and make people aware of what they know. Free verse was first published in 1947 with Nazik Al-Malaika's poem "Al-Kolira" in Iraq. The Palestinian event transformed the form and content of Contemporary poetry. After June 1948, poets turned to the people and society and demanded respect for freedom and human dignity. Therefore, our poets were influenced by the movements and tragedies of their society and stood against the enemy with their weapons. The poetry of Fadwa Tuqan and Nazik Al-Malaika depicts the suffering, pain, and misery of a people under the occupation of the invaders. This research, using a descriptive-analytical method, examines the most important Political themes of these two poets.
