Abstract

 During THE ABBASIDS PRISON was a dreadful place and a punitive punishment for the opponents. In fact, during this era any person for any reason that made the Caliphs and ministers irritated were considered as their opponent. But some groups including relatives and family members of the Caliphs, the deposed Caliphs and their descendants and dependents, Alavids, Ghermatids and Zandiqs were more probable PRISONers and were more under threat of TORTURE. Punishment of the opponents did and was more under threat of TORTURE. Punishment of the opponents did not require trial and conviction, but merely the Caliph's decree was used. All kinds of corporal and mental TORTUREs carried on and deprivation of human rights were imposed.This article will describe the most dreadful PRISONs in this era and the way the PRISONers were treated in these PRISONs including the kinds of TORTUREs which were used.
