Abstract

Conquest of Hurmuz in 1031 AH/ 1622 AD by common military forces of Iran and the East India Company is considered as one of the important and effective events in the Persian Gulf history. The major part of the sources of this event are official reports and memoirs of the Portuguese officials and the East India company administrators which reflect the political views of their sovereign state.Until the present time only two narratives of this event are published by Iranians. This article while introduces the main sources of sea war between Iran and Portugal during the Shah Abbass, for the first time presents an Iranian version of this event that is narrated in the manuscript called Afzal al-Tarikh written by Khozani.
