Abstract

The aim of the present article is to examine the concept of Unity of Being (Tohid) in the thoughts of Hakim Abul-Majd Majdūd ibn Adam SANAI Ghaznavi (died around 1131), one of the earlier Sufi poets. The article primarily strives to show that the concept of Unity of Being (Tohid) in SANAI's thought is associated with INTUITION. Next, it is indicated that SANAI, like Ibn Arabi, believes that knowledge of God is based on ASSIMILATION and DISCONNECTING GOD FROM CREATION. And finally, it is shown that according SANAI, realization of Tohid is based on removal of Individualities, sincere devotion (Ekhlas), Trust in God (Tavakol), inward solitude (Tafrid) and outward separation (Tajrid).
