A Glance Through the Iranian Narratives of Nietzsche's Thought

Abstract

 Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche can be considered the most important, or atleast the most popular, philosopher among Iranians. He is an attractive andpopular figure not only among those interested in philosophy, literature andhumanities, but also among common people. All his books have beentranslated into Persian and some of them have been translated into Persianseveral times. Iranian narratives of Nietzsche's thought also have a surprisingdiversity. On one side of these narratives, Nietzsche is seen as an Iranianmystic, orientalist and anti-Western, and on the other side, a completelydifferent person is seen: A Nietzsche who is an anti-moral philosopher/poet,bellicose and atheist, as if he deliberately wanted to fight with everything thatis good, righteous and respectable to man. In this article, the history of Iranianacquaintance with Nietzsche and the diverse narratives that have beenformed about him in Iran are introduced.In addition, some of the mostimportant reasons for Nietzsche's attractiveness to Iranians, and the reasonsfor the existence of such diverse narratives are also examined.KeywordsFriedrich Nietzsche, Philosophy in Iran, Zoroaster, Nietzsche's Bibliography,Translation.

Iranischer Nietzsche: Ein Blick auf Nietzsches Rezeption im Iran

Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche kann als der wichtigste oder zumindest als der beliebteste Philosoph unter Iranern betrachtet werden. Er ist eine faszinierende und populäre Figur, nicht nur unter denen, die sich für Philosophie, Literatur und Geisteswissenschaften interessieren, sondern auch unter der breiten Öffentlichkeit. Sämtliche seiner Bücher wurden ins Persische übersetzt, einige davon sogar mehrfach. Die iranischen Narrative über Nietzsches Denken zeigen eine überraschende Vielfalt.
Auf der einen Seite dieser Narrative wird Nietzsche als ein iranischer Mystiker, Orientalist und Anti-Westler betrachtet. Auf der anderen Seite erscheint er als eine völlig andere Person: ein Nietzsche, der als anti-moralischer Philosoph/Dichter, kriegerisch und atheistisch dargestellt wird – als ob er absichtlich gegen alles kämpfte, was für den Menschen gut, gerecht und ehrenwert ist. Dieser Artikel führt in die Geschichte der iranischen Bekanntschaft mit Nietzsche ein und beschreibt die vielfältigen Narrative, die sich in Iran über ihn gebildet haben. Darüber hinaus werden einige der wichtigsten Gründe für Nietzsches Anziehungskraft auf Iraner sowie die Ursachen für die Existenz dieser unterschiedlichen Narrativen untersucht.
