Abstract

Combinational perspective taking into consideration all aspects of a given subject is one of the characteristics of geography. As a branch of geography, geopolitics should also have a comprehensive view and avoid individualistic methods and one-dimensional approaches. Focusing on these characteristics and applying a constructivist approach (which enjoys a combinational and balanced view), this paper attempts to examine the relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the United States. In the same vein, cultural geography has been studied as the main index. Establishing a logical connection between geopolitics and the constructivist approach, this paper tries to analyze the status of cultural geography within the relations of these two countries. The fundamental question of this paper is as follows: In terms of constructivism, how cultural geography has brought about conflict in the geopolitical structure governing the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States? It should be noted that this paper is a descriptive-analytical one.
