Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of group training based on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) on self-esteem and psychological coherence of divorced women. A quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test was used. The statistical population included divorced women who visited the Navid Zindagi Center for divorce counseling in the summer of 2024. The sample consisted of 30 women selected through non-voluntary sampling based on inclusion criteria, who were then randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group received 9 sessions of 90-minute CBT training, while the control group did not receive any intervention. Both groups were re-evaluated at the post-test stage. The data were collected using the Crocker et al. (2003) self-esteem questionnaire and Antonovsky's (1987) psychological coherence scale. The data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). The results of the data analysis indicated that group training based on cognitive-behavioral therapy was effective in improving the self-esteem and psychological coherence of divorced women (p < 0. 05).
