Abstract

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the contribution of spiritual intelligence and cognitive insight in predicting marital satisfaction and general health of Iranian war veterans. Method: The research method was correlation and the statistical population consisted of 1400 victims living in Sardasht city in Iran. 302 people was randomly selected as participants. Four participants were eliminated from the sample because of flawed and or incomplete questionnaires. To collect data were used King’ s spiritual intelligence questionnaire (2008), Beck, Broach, Butler, Steer and Warm’ s cognitive insight scale (2004), Enriche marriage satisfaction, 1989 and Goldberg’ s general health questionnaire (GHQ), 1972. Results: The results showed that spiritual intelligence (β =0. 47, P=0. 0001) and cognitive insight (β =0. 39, P=0. 0002) had the ability to predict general health of victims. Also, results showed that spiritual intelligence (β =0. 47, P=0. 0002) and cognitive insight (β =0. 36, P=0. 0001) had the ability to predict marital satisfaction of veterans. Conclusion: Since marital satisfaction and general health of victims may fall due to physical and mental problems caused by the war, it may be concluded that marital satisfaction and general health of victims can be improved by training spiritual intelligence and cognitive.
