Abstract

Aim of this study was to determine relation between RELIGIOUS COPING strategies, especially cognitive ones of MS PATIENTS for example: trust in god, praying, philan thropies, believe in death and the world after death with t MENTAL HEALTH. Method was descriptive-analytic and correlation. Subjects were 50 male and female MS PATIENTS who were in the age of 25-40 years old and all were received drug therapy in the do Tehran's MS Association. The instruments were 28 items GHQ questioner of Goldberg and Hillier 1979 and researcher-made questionnaire with 11 items in cognitive, avoidance and behavioral domain. Specialists confined its content validity and its reliability was detected as %80 by test-retest methods in 2 weeks interval. Pearson's correlation and t test were used for data) analysis. Results showed there is not any significant difference between male/female, PATIENTS in applying of RELIGIOUS COPINGs, but there was significant correlation between high religious' beliefs and MENTAL HEALTH. Discussion: PATIENTS (who are in stressful conditions like MS Disease but have strong religious believe, and also they apply RELIGIOUS COPING strategies mid drug therapy, will attain a higher MENTAL HEALTH.
