Abstract

Information technology in the Newsroom has an important role. The major issue is how to use Information technology in Newsrooms of the TV news channels and its role on the performance of them, with the aim of increasing the quantity and quality of news production in TV news channels. The research was conducted through qualitative method, examined the factors influencing on the use of Information technology in Newsrooms and its role in improving the performance of TV news channels from the viewpoint of the news editors & editor-in-chiefs in the organization IRIB. The opinions were collected through a questionnaire from 25 individuals, and using thematic analysis five main codes out of initial codes were extracted from the interviewees' responses. According to the results, despite the obstacles and problems of using Information technology in the Newsroom, it has a direct influence on increasing the quantity and quality of news production, and by increasing the amount of news production and reducing errors, the efficiency and performance of news channels has improved. The national media (IRIB) can does the best through making Newsroom staff familiar with the benefits of using modern technologies and periodic training, equipping modern Newsrooms and supporting them appropriately.
