Abstract

The main objective in this paper was to study the probable causes of sociopolitical upheavals in Iran within the last 100 years .The crisis of IDENTITY formed the theoretical ground in this study. Descriptive analysis was the analytical tool employed in this research. Findings in this paper show that the Islamic Revolution (1979) and other sociopolitical upheavals of great importance in the last 100 years have been the result of interaction, and clashes within three confliction identities: traditional, Islamic and MODERNITY.
