Abstract

In order to study of GENETIC DIVERSITY and to classify the local RICE varieties of Guilan, 49 landrace RICE varieties of Guilan were studied in a 7×7 simple lattice design in the RICE Research Institute of Iran (Rasht). Some characters such as grain yield, yield components and morphological traits were evaluated. Analysis of variance showed that a significant difference among genotypes at 1% probability level for all traits. The highest and lowest of amount of genotypic coefficient of variation were observed for the number of unfilled grain per panicle and length/width ratio of brown RICE, respectively. The highest and lowest of broad sense HERITABILITY were obtained for length/width ratio of brown RICE and seed yield, respectively. CLUSTER ANALYSIS using Ward's minimum variance classified the genotypes into seven groups. The first cluster included 20 landraces which the average of their yield was higher than the total. The last cluster included was Shahi, Mimareyhani and Obo. In this cluster the varieties were grouped based on the resemblance high seed width, high length of own and dark lema and palea.
