Abstract

The MEHR ARAN mine is located in North of Haji Abad, HORMOZGAN, and South of Iran. The aim of the research was to find the geological, geochemical and mineralogical features of the mine. To achieve the aim we analyzed 8 samples from stones by XRF. Also we studied 10 thin sections from these samples. The petro graphical, geochemical and mineralogical results show that the main type rocks are limestone and dolomite which have been originated from Carboniferous and Permian formations. The samples are mainly composed of calcite and dolomite and rarely clays. The geochemical results show that the rocks have low content of SiO2, Al2O3, Fe2O3, S and high in MgO (19%) and CaO (55%) relative to crushed stone standard. The evaluation of reserve show that the dolomite+limestone reserve is 56.5 Mt and the limestone reserve reserve is 39.5 Mt.
