Abstract

NATO cooperation with CENTRAL ASIA AND CAUSASIA region countries began since they gained their independence in the beginning of 1990 decade after the collapse of the soviet onions. However, these relations, due to some reasons, did not expand too much until 11 september 2001 event. The events of 11 sep. caused a vast changes in NATO relations and countries of CENTRAL ASIA AND CAUSASIA region, both in its depth and level. As an example, at the present time, the majority of these countries have extensive cooperations with NATO in the framework of “participation program for peace” and participate in NATO military activities allover the world. The aim of this article, regarding to above conditions, is evaluation of last developments in terms of NATO presence in CENTRAL ASIA AND CAUSASIA region and the security of Islamic Republic of Iran.
