Abstract

The city is alive and dynamic phenomenon in the context of time that the city s body is the physic of the city and its soul is the citizens and their social interactions. Social actions in the context of the city are lead to alive, a sense of belonging to place and identity and one of the most important contexts of urban life, are the trails of urban neighborhoods. This study examines Chahno neighborhood, region 6, Mashhad city, considering potentials and limitations of quality walking neighborhood to promote walking the neighborhood with an emphasis on SWOT ANALYSIS MODEL, this research is applied and the research methodology is descriptive-analytical. The data collection tool is library documents and survey. In this study, two types of questionnaires were prepared for experts and residents that 30 questionnaires were for experts and the sample size considering Cochran formula and volume statistical population (l0378 inhabitants in the neighborhood in 1385) is calculated 260 questionnaires. SWOT analysis shows that the quality of walking in the Chahno neighborhood has 11 strength points, 9 weakness points, 9 opportunity points and 7 threat points. Also the strategic decisions should be taken to improve current status of the neighborhood and at the end of the study, have been proposed obtained strategies.
