Abstract

ORDER AND SECURITY may consider as the best standards and criteria to determine the healthy situation of a city, as the security will pave the ways to the economic and social development. PATHOLOGY of ORDER AND SECURITY in urban parks and trying to eliminate or minimize the harms that can facilitate doing crimes in urban areas, are important requirements of modern urbanism. As a result, in recent years the principles of CRIME PREVENTION THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN strategies and approaches to crime prevention in PUBLIC SPACES and urban parks have been mainly considered. The research purpose is identifying the security situation of Tehran Parks by using the strategies and the principles of CRIME PREVENTION THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN. The research methods are descriptive –analytical and data gathering has been done in two ways of documental and field research. For statistical and graphic analysis, soft ware’s of combined GIS and Office / Excels have been used and to compare the environmental and skeletal features of the Besat Park, with proposed CRIME PREVENTION THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN strategies, field methods of observing and photographing the area have been applied. The results show that about 30 out of total 116crime occurred in the Besat Park, region 16, have special distribution patterns as so focused and cluster. This is, due to the poor design and environmental condition of the park. According to the crime prevention strategies through environmental design at this park, it seems many problems such as the lack of sense of belonging, loss and lack of lighting at or in the park and lack of proper and integrated oversight formally or informally.
