Abstract

This paper describes the development and normalization of SUICIDE Risk Assessment Scale for Mahabad and Boukan cities.For this purpose, a draft 91- items checklist was constructed by integrating information from 1) literature review 2) expert clinician focus group and 3) consultation with experts. In pilot study of content validity, 14 item of scale be deleted. Then scale be administrated for 450 non-clinical person, but only 383 cases were valid for analysis. The internal consistency of scale be studied, before examine of FACTOR STRUCTURE. Finally 74 items be found suitable for factor analysis. The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was employed to inspection of FACTOR STRUCTURE.After extraction of 4 factors, rotation of them was performed with Varimax method. Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of scale was obtained 0.921. To examine of discriminant validity of scale, 40 persons with previous SUICIDE action and 40 persons with any previous SUICIDE action, were compared. The significant difference was found between means of two groups (p<0.00). The Beck helplessness scale (to 'examine of concurrent validity of SUICIDE Risk Assessment scale) was administered for 65 persons too. Correlation coefficient of two scales was obtained 0.92.
