CRIMINAL ORGANIZATIONS AND WOMEN TRAFFICKING

Pages

Abstract

Human trafficking is undoubtedly an insult to human dignity and an ominous crime against humans and humanity. It is a serious problem for all countries which should be considered at national and regional levels. Nowhere in the world is immune to this phenomenon and its destructive effects. High profit is the main issue which has encouraged CRIMINAL ORGANIZATIONS to engage in women trafficking during the past few years. Whereas narcotics are only used once, humans can be taken advantage of frequently. In fact, CRIMINAL ORGANIZATIONS are well aware that potential benefits of this form of smuggling are very high with a lower chance of being prosecuted. They reckon on the influence of those who can help them with women trafficking such as diplomats, senior agents…. Since such activities are usually clandestine, it is very difficult to bring them to the light. Human trafficking is a multifaceted issue and a crime which deprives people of their human rights and freedom. It also entails world health hazards and can perpetuate poverty and underdevelopment in some regions. To fight this phenomenon at international and regional levels, we need comprehensive solutions and international collaboration. This paper seeks to answer the question as how smugglers choose their victim? How they control and move them? Through what means, they keep victims away from the police? Why women trafficking has become prevalent and what barriers exist to fighting human and women trafficking. Why police are not very successful in dealing with such CRIMINAL ORGANIZATIONS? What solutions can be found to reduce the number of sex slaves? What measures have been taken by countries which have been successful in this regard?
