Abstract

This paper aimed to discover if there was a relation between characteristics of online database and the perceptions of female faculty members of the zone 8 of Islamic Azad University in Tehran based on ROGERS’ THEORY of Diffusion of Innovation (DOI) such as relative advantage, compatibility, trialability and observability attributes. The samples included 105 female faculty members who were selected randomly by stratified sampling procedure. The analytical research survey method was applied. The data were gathered by implementing a questionnaire based on previous writings and theories of Rogers. The findings indicated that all independent variables correlated significantly to the female faculty members’ COMPLIANCE within Rogers’ innovation diffusion theory (p<0.0001). The relative advantage and compatibility were stronger predictors of adoption rate compare to other ONLINE DATABASES characteristics.
