Title

ORGANIC AND INORGANIC COMPONENTS IN COALS OF PARVADEH-1, TABAS

Pages

Abstract

Parvadeh-1 coalfield is located in 75 km South of TABAS. Iran's coal bearing sediments are within the Upper Triassic to Middle Jurassic Nayband Group. These sediments developed in the northern, central and eastern parts of Iran. The most extensive development of these sediments in Iran is TABAS coal bearing basin in Central Iran. The basin is divided in to three coal bearing regions known as Parvadeh, Nayband and Mazino. Coal bearing sediments in the Parvadeh region consists of Nayband, Ab Haji, Parvadeh and Baghamshah Formations which is divided into five members known as the Galkan, Bidestan, Howze Shakh, Howse Khan and Ghadir. Ghadir member with a thickness of more than 1000 m consists of coal bearing zones. The Nayband Formation which include Ghadir member mainly consists of coal, sandstone, shale, and argilite.During the study 24 ash samples were analyzed by XRF and XRD for geochemical purposes. The geochemical data showed that there is no economi anomaly for Al, Fe, Cu, Zn, Co, Zr, V and Cr. Also, 15 samples were studied by microscope for petro graphical purposes. The study showed that the coals are ultra-clarain to duro-clarain. The macerals consist of mainly vitrinite to semivitrinite. The mineral of these coals consist of clay minerals, iron sulphide and carbonates.
