Abstract

Purpose: This survey is aimed to know research methods of master's DISSERTATIONs in the field of the KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION SCIENCE in Tehran state Universities from 2006 to 2012 and also to specify the abundance methods of research at state universities of Tehran.Methodology: This survey has done by content analyzing and bibliometric method. The society of research is 154 DISSERTATIONs in MA degree at University of Tehran, Tarbiat Modaress and Medical University of Iran. The tool of information gathering has been a check list.Findings: Results show that among 154 studied DISSERTATIONs, Tehran University has the most one. The most abundance in methods of survey is "SURVEY METHOD" (70 %) and the least abundance is "documenting method".Conclusion: After reviewing the thesis of KNOWLEDGE AND INFORMATION SCIENCE the State University of Tehran was determined that the increased interest in using SURVEY METHOD and the documentation method Has been used less.
