Abstract

Islamic Republic of Iran is faced with several strategic THREATs, and because of the presence of trans-regional and interfering powers in their follower systems has to design different management systems. Meanwhile, the PERSIAN GULF is a region that has strategic value to Iran, and also is the centre of hostile and interfering powers’ THREATs against this country. In this regard, to deal with these THREATs, Iran requires control systems including REGIONAL DETERRENCE system. This system will be under the effect of the variables of PERSIAN GULF’s regional System and its logical and physical model will be shaped based on such variables. Along with examining the theoretical foundations of deterrence and providing an analytical study of REGIONAL DETERRENCE, the research has tried to examine the characteristics of security and STRATEGIC ENVIRONMENT of the PERSIAN GULF systems and finally design I.R Iran’s REGIONAL DETERRENCE model in such an environment. The authors speculate that triangular and network deterrence models are the efficient models in Iran's DEFENSE STRATEGY.
