Abstract

The events of 9/11 not only showed that NATO under American influence has the desire to expand, but also resulted in the formation of new geopolitics related to I.R. Iran’s national SECURITY. Putting Iran in the axis of evil, and America's campaign to Afghanistan and Iraq within the framework of NATO’s mission and international coalition are among the transformations that has led Iran to play an active role in strategic areas. Also, the developments in NATO’s DOCTRINE, which changed from the post-Cold War political-security aspects to military approach- a STRATEGY with aggressive orientation after 9/11 are one of the reasons for the dynamics of the Union. Since 2007, despite growing tensions among the members, over global and regional missions, increasing environmental, computer, TERRORISM, WMD threats and economic problems, encouraged members to adopt a participative approach. Affected by these changes, Iran's SECURITY environment came in the range of NATO’s objectives.
