Abstract

This study aims at studying the role of Islamic Azad University in expanding doing research in the country. That is the qualitative research.Tables and combination of charts utilized in this research. These tables are described, compared and analyzed via gathering data, calculating five indices. These indices are as follows: the number of RESEARCHERS, written ARTICLES, registered INVENTIONS, published BOOKS, and the costs of research contracts outside of the organization for all the unites and centers affiliated to the Islamic Azad University in 16 regions across the country and also Universities and institutions affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology between 2005-2009. The results illustrates that 41percent of RESEARCHERS, 11 percent of ARTICLES, 11 percent of published BOOKS, 21 percent of INVENTIONS, and few of research contracts during the Fourth 5-year-old Program allocated to Islamic Azad University. This result divulges the import and stupendous role of Islamic Azad University in the realm of research in our country. In other word it can be concluded that by and large, the country performance during the Fourth 5-year-old Program of development have not progressed but literally without Islamic Azad University the number of research papers would be even less than these numbers.
