Title

IDENTIFICATION OF THE FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO SATISFYING STABLE MARRIAGES IN WOMEN

Abstract

 Marriage and healthy marital relationships have benefits for society, individuals and families. This study aimed to identification of the factors ocontributing to satisfying and STABLE MARRIAGEs and preparing and developing a scale based on the factors of endurance of the SATISFYING MARRIAGEs from rhe viewpoint of the MARRIED WOMEN. The design of the current study was the correlational method. The population of the study consisted of all mothers of high school students in Ahwaz who their marital life lasted at least 25 years and they were in a satisfying and STABLE MARRIAGE with thir husbands and among them four samples were selected using simple random method: The first sample (25 women) were used to find the primary factors and develop the scale; The second sample (50 subjects) were used to increase the reliability and validity and primary applying; the original sample to carry out confirmatory factor analysis (160 subjects) and Finally, in order to perform an exploratory factor analysis (239 subjects) has been selected. The data were gatheted applying semi-structured interviews, Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS) and researcher made scale Happy Marriage scale and the data were analyzed using Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis. The findings of the study indicated that 64 items in 9 factors were influential in women's that these factors explained the overall 60 percent of successful marriages variances including: the appropriate communication styles and conflict resolution; protection, attention, respect and appreciating one another; personality characteristics and responsibility; intimacy and the quality of sex; quality of marital life and spending time and entertainment together; couple congruence and flexibility; commitment and loyalty; shared values, cultural and spiritual experiences; and financial and business issues. Understanding and identification of the factors influencing the satisfying and STABLE MARRIAGEs in successful couples can be considered as a model and a direction for couples, especially young couples and will eventually assist to the society health.
