Abstract

Introduction: social prevention of crime is a new type of police approach in which security is carried out with the participation of the people. Its main purpose is to reduce crime and promote the sense of security in society. The United States police have achieved positive results in this area in recent. Tehran’ s police have also sought to reduce crime by attracting citizenship in the past decade. However, research results show that the issue of security and crime in Tehran is still a serious issue. However, the present study compares how citizens participate with the police in social crime prevention programs in the metropolitan area of Tehran, by doing a comparative work in metropolitan areas such as New York, Chicago and Los Angeles and, after reviewing, appropriate strategies to reduce crime Using the participatory capacity of the citizens. The type of research is comparative and its method is descriptive-analytic based on George Brady’ s quadruple method. The data are collected in the form of documents and libraries and, in turn, the data have been analyzed and analyzed in four stages of description, interpretation, integration and comparison. Equivalence of the research hypothesis The participation of citizens in police plans will have a major impact on crime reduction and social prevention of crime. Despite the fact that the Tehran police were able to implement some social programs aimed at preventing crime, the inadequate planning to attract citizens’ participation and their lack of trust in cooperation with the police and the generalities of programs have been identified as one of the main obstacles to the prevention of crime in Tehran.
