Title

A Study of the Relationship between Organizational Socialization and Job Performance among Isfahan Governmental University Librarians

Abstract

 Introduction: This research aimed at investigating the relationship between Organizational socialization and Job performance among Isfahan public university Librarians. Methodology: This research is an applied one and its method is descriptive and correlational. The research population comprised of all 139 Isfahan public university Librarians in 2017. Through the stratified random sampling and by using Cochran's formula, 100 Librarians were selected as the sample. Taormina's Organizational socialization (2007) and Paterson's Job performance (1970) questionnaires were used. In order to obtain the required data and information, 100 correctly completed questionnaires were returned to the researchers. The content validity used for the validity and Cronbach's alpha coefficients were acceptable for reliability )0. 89 for Organizational socialization questionnaire and 0. 92 for Job performance questionnaire). In order to analysis data, correlation coefficient, and multiple linear regression analysis were used. Analysis of data was conducted through SPSS software. Findings: The results of the research indicated that there is a significant relationship between Organizational socialization and Job performance among Isfahan public university Librarians. Significant relationship was also observed between Organizational socialization dimensions (training, understanding, coworker support and future prospects) and Job performance. Demographic variables were not of factors influencing Organizational socialization and Job performance. Conclusion: Considering the existence of a significant relationship between Organizational socialization and Job performance, the Isfahan public university manages and authorities should promote their attitudes and views regarding Organizational socialization and plan and organize seriously the creation of promotion opportunities and behavioral patterns in their organization.
