Abstract

Well-veiled (Hijab) as something natural has a history as old as human existance. Well-veiled (Hijab) andl chastity is human charateristic and people are interested in them because of their nature and creation. The purpose of the present study was to compare the SOCIAL IMMUNITY and MENTAL HEALTH of the poorly- veiled vs. Well- veiled women, housewives vs. working women, women employed in governmental vs. non-governmental organizations, and married vs. single women. The design of the study was ex post facto. The sample of the study included 169 Well-veiled women and 157 poorly-veiled women with different age ranges (over 18 years), housewives and working women and having different educational background, selected randomly. The research instruments were a researcher-made questionnaire and the general health questionnaire GHQ28. The content validity of the researcher-made questionnaire was checked by experts and its reliability was calculated by test-retest method giving an index of 0.79. Data were analysed through an independent t-test and Pearson correlation. The findings revealed that the well-veiled women enjoy more SOCIAL IMMUNITY and MENTAL HEALTH compared to poorly-veiled women. Also the SOCIAL IMMUNITY and MENTAL HEALTH of the housewives were more than the working women. The SOCIAL IMMUNITY and MENTAL HEALTH of the women working in governmental organizations were better than the women working in non- governmental organizations. Similarly the SOCIAL IMMUNITY and MENTAL HEALTH of the married women were more than the single ones. The researchers concluded that Well-veiled (Hijab) has a positive relationship with the SOCIAL IMMUNITY, MENTAL HEALTH, employment status and PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT.
