Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases are a disorder which is affected by psychological factors. This research was administered with the aim of investigating the effect of ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY on VALUED LIVING and THOUGHT SUPPRESSION and intrusion among cardiovascular female patients. Research method was quasi- experimental and statistical population included the female CARDIOVASCULAR PATIENTS who had referred to a cardiovascular expert office in Esfahan, in spring 2012. Among them, twenty female were selected voluntarily and then randomly assigned in two control and experimental groups (each group 10 persons). Experimental group was trained in eight sessions by ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY. Research instrument was VALUED LIVING questionnaire (Wilson et al, 2010) and THOUGHT SUPPRESSION questionnaire with two sub scales of THOUGHT SUPPRESSION and intrusion (Schmidt et al, 2009). Data were analyzed with the use of multivariate analysis of covariance. Results revealed that in the post-test after controling for pretest, there was a significant difference between experimental and control groups in VALUED LIVING and THOUGHT INTRUSION, but there was not any significant difference in the THOUGHT SUPPRESSION.
