Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the Iranian cichlid fish Diet (Iranocichla hormuzensis) in the Kol river in Hormozgan province for 12 months from February 2014 to January 2015. Sampling was carried out with Throwing net and gill net. for study the Diet, 360 specimens (I. hormuzensis) were Collected and the Relative Length of Gut (RLG), gastric emptying index (CV), food preference index (FP), and frequency of food items were calculated. The results of average of RLG in this species was 9. 29± 1. 41, showed that this species was vegetarian. The index condition factor (CF) Was obtained 0. 17 ± 1. 77, that showed this the fish in the Kol river have good living conditions and appropriate. the index of gastric emptying (CV) for this species was calculated 12. 12%, indicates showed that these fish eat a lot. The results of FP showed that diatoms were considered as the main food and food items including Blue-green algae, detritus, fish and crustaceans as alternative food, insects and Foraminifera was as random food.
