Abstract

The relation between industry and university considering the effect of its on process of knowledge-based and sustainable development is important for most of the scholars especially policy makers, because of this several dimentions about these issues are discussed.With precise review of different countries’ strategy on this particular matter, the overcome paradigm can be inferred as a mixed attitude with immediate effectiveness of the relationships of these two institutes from the functional aspect which is resulted in providing cross-sectional or hasty approached which are known as “Approaches based on PRAGMATISM”. This matter has been current especially in industrial revolution era and unfortunately nowadays these approaches are greatly used by some less-developed countries without considering time, place necessities and overall reviewing of developed countries in mentioned approaches. Passing through industrialization era and reaching post-industrial era, revising the old approaches and introducing new ones, made a new attitude in relationship between industry and university based on analysis of these two organizations with considering other related organizations’ effect which new elicited approaches are called “approaches based on organization-oriented views”. By this article and after providing necessities and emphasize related to industry and university, firstly the outcomes of PRAGMATISM approaches of the relation between industry and university will be discussed and with mentioning the inefficiency of this approach especially regarding the country’s experience, the institutional pathology of this relation will be described. Finally, the approaches made from institutional attitude for relationships between industry and university which will be discussed in the framework of institutional approach.
