Abstract

Somatic embryogenesis is a good model for embryo development studies. The morphological and anatomical aspects of indirect SOMATIC EMBRYOgenesis in CARNATION were described. Calli were produced on MS culture medium containing sucrose 30 g/l-1 supplemented with 2 mg/l 2,4-D and 0.2 mg/l BA. Histocytological analysis carried out on calli. SOMATIC EMBRYOs formed when embryogenic calli were transferred to MS medium containing 30 g/l-1 sucrose and 60 g/l-1 mannitol. Histocytological analysis carried out on developmental process of SOMATIC EMBRYOs. Cotyledonary SOMATIC EMBRYOs converted into plantlets when they were transferred onto the half-strength MS culture medium.
