Abstract

Nowadays, with the DEVELOPMENT of the science and industry of TOURISM, new angles are being studied. The magnitude of this DEVELOPMENT is such that almost all human needs are being considered. ARCHITECTURE has been developed to solve many human needs but from the point of view of TOURISM, ARCHITECTURE has two main roles: requirement and attraction. Requirement lies in the area of TOURISM infrastructures while attraction is a part of the cultural attractions in which different categorizations have been taken into account for TOURISM attractions. This study aimed to investigate the fundamental relationship between the two major industries of ARCHITECTURE and TOURISM industry in the geographical context of IRAN using analytical-descriptive methods. The results showed that ARCHITECTURE plays a major role in IRAN's TOURISM attractions and that most tourists come to visit IRAN’s architectural works.
