Abstract

Organizing tourists’ paths is important as far as the devoted capital and time to tourism are considered. One of the important cities regarding tourism in Iran is Mashad which is a religious city. The city is the second religious metropolitan city after Mecca in the world and the also the second metropolitan city in Iran after Tehran. Mashad attracts a lot of religious tourists because of its capabilities. This city has other attractions for tourists except Imam Reza shrine; attractions which are mostly historical, cultural, and natural some of which are located in the urban areas of the city while the others are located in the suburbs of Mashad. Thus the present study focusing on these determiners and their priorities recommends some factors for transportation prices, accommodation for the pilgrimants as well as other important factors. In this study the supply and demand characteristics of tourism in Mashad have been investigated on the basis of the data and questionnaires obtained from various organizations and departments. Using SWOT the obtained data were then sorted and at last three final ways have been presented.
