Abstract

The current study was conducted to investigate personality's fundamental factors in Iranian' s culture using personality LEXICAL STUDY. More than 11, 000 descriptive words were selected through Persian dictionaries and these words were reduced to 2, 700 after removing for repeated, complexes and old words. In the next step, in regard to study guideline, the selected words were categorized to five category of temperament and mood, states, social evaluation, metaphorical and physical concepts by 10 judges. In this step the researchers reached to 1, 300 words. After removing low frequency words in Iranian lexical life by 100 psychological students, final checklist was prepared by 147 word, 763 students from Tehran universities were selected by clustered random sampling and rated the final checklist. Results of EXPLORATORY FACTOR ANALYSIS-varimax rotation was investigated to 2-7 solutions factors. In respect to literature base of factor analysis studies of personality, the focus of current research was on 5 and 6 solutions. results of this study indicated that the three factor of nervousness, agreeableness, and consciousness were resemble to NEO-PI-R and HEXACO models in spite to some partial differences; but extraversion and openness to experience factors was not extracted as independent factors and these factors was integrated in single factor; another important result of current study was the extraction the " Equanimity" factor in 5 factor solutions and " Religiousness" factor in 6 factor solutions.
