Abstract

The aim of the research was to investigate the role of PERSONALITY FACTORS in predicting the different RELIGIOSITY aspects. 436 people were selected from the students of Payam-Nour University of Tehran as the simple size and they responded to the demographic questionnaire, the NEO five-factor inventory (the short one), and the RELIGIOSITY questionnaire. The results showed that there is a significant correlation between the different RELIGIOSITY aspects and the PERSONALITY FACTORS. In the research, the only personality factor that does not have any significant relationship with the RELIGIOSITY aspects is the extroversion. The PERSONALITY FACTORS found as the most important predictors of RELIGIOSITY aspects are respectively the OPENNESS TO EXPERIENCE, the CONSCIENTIOUSNESS, and the agreeableness. According to the findings, the PERSONALITY FACTORS can predict the different RELIGIOSITY aspects and among them, the OPENNESS TO EXPERIENCE is the most important predictor of RELIGIOSITY aspects and the next two factors are the CONSCIENTIOUSNESS and the agreeableness.
