Abstract

 In this brief article to the life and works of JEFFREY ALEXANDER, the theoretical foundation and background of his thinking, ontology and philosophical anthropology, epistemology and methodology of this American sociologist has been considered.  Then, the major principles in his sociological theory which has been drawn from his studies in areas such as model of integrative and multidimensional theory, NEOFUNCTIONALISM, sociology, cultural and CIVIL SOCIETY has been discussed. At the end, the criticism of other sociologists to Alexander’s theory has been posed and the conclusions of the article were discussed.
