Abstract

Modern urban spaces, are a component for the occurrence of urban abnormalities. In many cases the design of the physical space, the role that specific location takes and its Social Dimensions leads to that the spaces be known safe or unsafe. This research aims to evaluate the STRUCTURAL FACTORS affecting Sense of citizenship SPATIAL SECURITY in UNDERPASSes of MASHHAD Metropolis from the perspective of citizens of zone 11 and 12. The research method is applied descriptive – survey one. In order to prioritizing the safety indicators of UNDERPASSes the process of "network analysis" (ANP) is used. Sample community of study, include all citizens of zone 11 and 12 that according to the proportion of the population in these two areas 383 questionnaire using Cochran's formula is distributed. In addition, 20 questionnaires among urban experts (Custodians of the UNDERPASS- Transportation and Traffic Organization of MASHHAD Municipality) are distributed. The Results of the comparison of average of two independent community indicate that district 11 in all parameters studied except health and lighting has a Favorable situation and prioritizing using the ANP technique suggest that index of access and ease of use by normal weight of 0.19 is the first priority and the index of interior design by normal weight of 0.09 is the last priority to provide the safety of UNDERPASSes.
