Abstract

Geoturism is increasingly growing in recent years as a new category of tourism and ecotourism which emphasizes geological phenomena in the tourism industry. Geomorphological attractions and resorts based on human beings' understanding and exploiting styles have certain values, so they can be a focal point in developing tourism industry and forming many major tourism attractions. On this basis, identifying and evaluating the geomorphological potentials and attractions, allows planners specify regional development and its direction in a society. Therefore, the present study aims to assess the values of available geotouristic attractions in Ardal–as a geomorphological area- using Nicholas Model. This study is applied one, with a descriptive-analytic method, which for collecting data and required information has used documentary and field methods. The sample included all relevant experts and officials throughout the city and province, numbered 110 persons in enumeration. In Ardal, places like Ardal cave, Darkesh-varkesh gorge, Darre-Eshgh Fall, Molaa Spring, and Sardab, due to having GEOTOURISM shapes, are the most important GEOTOURISM places of the region, which have been evaluated and assessed. Results showed that GEOTOURISM attractions of periphery places of Darre-Eshgh Fall, also Ardal Cave, with 66.04 and 57.18 scores, accounted for the highest and lowest rates in GEOTOURISM attractions of the city, respectively. Also, results showed that the area enjoys some very good capabilities in GEOTOURISM attractions, so using these attractions, based on the underlying role of the geological and GEOTOURISM characteristics in the natural and cultural landscape architecture, proper planning should be made.
