Abstract

Nowadays, a large number of satellites operate over the geographic ranges of Iran, and they broadcast about three thousand television channels that at least 30 of them are Persian-speaking. These channels are aimed to be watched mainly by Iranians, Afghans, Tajiks and other Persians all over the world. In Iran, apart from the proprietary channels of provincial capitals, more than twenty television channels are broadcasted from Tehran. Nevertheless, in spite of setting up these channels, not only has not people's attitude towards satellite channel's programs lessened in recent years, but it has also increased continuously. Whereas Iran enacted the "Prohibition of Using Receiver Equipment from Satellite Act" in more than two decades ago in 1994, and despite all problems in the process of executing this Act, not an effective action has been taken for reviewing that yet. In this paper, in addition to investigating the causes of the increasing tendency of citizens, especially the YOUTH to satellite channels, by referring to the results of a scientific research "Attractive Factors of BBC Persian Television NEWS for Iranian YOUTH and Teen", some solutions have been suggested.
