Abstract

 In this Paper we are dealing with the low temperature thermoluminescence (TL) of optical fibers, previously illuminated by DV light following a X-ray irradiation. Since optical energy is insufficient to form new intrinsic defects all the signals are thought to arise from phototransfer from deep stable defect states formed during fibre production. A comparison with the TL signals of crystalline quarts shows a probable evidence of the crystalline phase generation in the fibre preform.
