Abstract

The purpose of this study was comparing the effect of ipsi lateral and contra lateral of eye-hand accuracy in FREE THROW OF BASKETBALL. Recent studies showed significant difference exist between motor performances of ipsi lateral and contra lateral people. We compared the shooting performance of 30 ipsi lateral and 28 contra lateral dominant university students. The free throw shot in basketball was selected as an experimental task, each subject was allowed a total of 30 free throws. The results showed that there were statistically significant difference in free throw shooting accuracy between the ipsi lateral and contra lateral dominant subjects (t=4.072, P<0.0001). It is possible that the superiority of the players is more aligned with the line of vision ahead of them. This result has important interpretations one of them is separating out the effects of temporary and permanent affects the players learning. However, further research is needed to distinguish the reasons of difference between the ipsi and contra lateral players.
