Abstract

The current study aims to gives a description of narcotic abuse in Iran and presents an ETIOLOGY on changes in pattern of narcotic consumption. This paper attempts to recognition micro, mezzo and macro factors affecting individuals' tendency to using NARCOTICS. Moreover, this study discusses the consumption changes under effect of some variables like "Gender", "Age", and "Education". Based on Secondary Analysis and Meta-Analysis of surveys and investigations have performed during 1996-2000, this paper tries to evaluate and explain changes in Iranians' pattern of narcotic consumption. Empirical and clinical data shows a decrease in users' age and increasing tendency in women and higher educated people to using NARCOTICS. According to Cultural-Identity Theory such trends have a relation with identification with a drug subcultural group. In the last two decades, and under macro sociocultural changes, Iranian society has experienced great identical transformations. Changes in DRUG ABUSE pattern among women, youths, and higher educated people could be understand under these transformations.
