Title

Pathology of couples problems in engagement: A qualitative study

Abstract

 The nomination period is an intermediate period that prepares a person to choose the right one and to enter a common life. Accordingly, the aim of the present study was to investigate the Pathology of couples' problems in the stage of engagement. The study was conducted in a qualitative method using a phenomenological approach. theoretical saturation criterion, 13 couple’ s engagement participated in this study. The semi-structured interview method was used to collect information. Then the data was collected, recorded, coded and categorized as main and sub themes. Analysis of the experiences of the interview with the candidate's couples resulted in the identification of 243 primary codes, 19 sub-themes and 5 main themes including ineffective communication patterns, patterns of inefficiency in relationship management, value system of couples, schematic mentality, and the destructive effects of the main family. The results showed that factors such as lack of understanding and interaction, communication problems, lack of originality, inability to encourage and reassure, inability to manage conflicts, lack of transparency of roles, inability to manage personal and personal boundaries, disability in social network management, attitude towards religion and spirituality, culture and traditions, beliefs, needs, traps, self-knowledge, emotional mood, dependency, negative family modeling, unsuccessful experiences in the family, and negative role of the family in problems and injuries. The nomination period for married couples plays an important role on the verge of marriage. Therefore, it is imperative to pay special attention to these important factors in pre-marital enrichment programs for young people.
