Abstract

Background and aim: Nowadays, the websites have the important role in transferring and delivery the information. The aim of this study was to assess the websites of NORTHERN UNIVERSITIES OF MEDICAL SCIENCEs based on WEBOMETRICS criteria.Material and methods: This descriptive-survey study is applicable type. The present study was performed using one of the WEBOMETRICS methods, Linkage analysis method, and finally determined through the coordination of citations in Google Scholar as well as the amount of visibility and size of Medical universities website of the Northern region of the country.Findings: Findings indicated that based on WEBOMETRICS database, Babol, Guilan, Golestan and Mazandaran Universities of Medical Sciences obtained the highest rank in presence index (1701), impact index (5083), free information delivery index (1234) and academic excellence indicator (2169), respectively.Conclusion: We conclude that although the website of NORTHERN UNIVERSITIES OF MEDICAL SCIENCEs has got a positive growth in some indices of WEBOMETRICS in recent years, these universities’ status generally has not been acceptable at National and International levels. Increasing English pages, increasing link to these universities’ websites and the attention of the managers and those involved are necessary and inevitable to promote these universities’ websites.
