Abstract

 In ports, the wave and current pattern is of high importance considering current prediction and designing marine structures. In the present research, the wave and current pattern are investigated in SHAHID RAJAEI PORT using NUMERICAL MODELING. SHAHID RAJAEI PORT, which is located in the vicinity of Bandar Abbas city, has been considered as the most important commercial port in Iran. The modeling is done using the third generation model of MIKE 21 software. MIKE 21 is a valid model with the ability of modeling the wave and current hydrodynamic and the changes due to structure construction. According to the port characteristics, the study area was divided into 7047 elements and 3737 nodes. Wave modeling is conducted under the effect of wind and applying the real wave data collected in the southern, western and eastern borders. Tidal currents are simulated using M2, N2, O1, K1 and S2 tidal constituents at the eastern and western open boundaries (correspond to Bandar Abbas and SHAHID RAJAEI PORTs). The results reveal that construction of PROTECTIVE DIKE in the vicinity of western breakwater increases the significant wave height to 12 percent and the water level to 7 percent in average.
