Abstract

GOSTASP who was one of the kianian Kings, has a great value in RELIGION and popular narratives of Iran. He is one of the famous characters who were considered in detail in Firdosy's SHAHNAMEH because of enjoyment frame two important aspects in his life, that is acceptance of Behi RELIGION and making design in EPICe tale and fighting with Arjasp turani.To know the back grand of GOSTASP's story and its source and origin and to understand sources that were used directly or indirectly by means of Firdosy, referring to ancient texts among them AVESTA, some important PAHLAVI TEXTS and with them, Dagigi's SHAHNAMEH which was included by Firdosy in his SHAHNAMEH, is necessary.In this article, the main aim is comparative study of GOSTASP's story from old period to Firdosy's time with this idea that the limits of reciprocal influence and acceptance of narratives in RELIGION and popular texts are showed as much as possible.
