Title

Identifying Effective Factors on Pleasure Reading

Abstract

 Background and Aim: Enjoying reading is an important factor in people's tendency to read and increase reading per capita. Pleasure reading has an important effect on continuity of reading and getting convert people to lifetime reading. This issue has increasing important in Iran society that has a low per capita reading. Meanwhile we should know what factors has influence on Pleasure reading and cause it. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify the views of Librarians and Members of Public libraries in Kermanshah about the factors affecting Pleasure reading. Methods: this research has been done in a qualitative cognitive approach and the method is content analysis. Data has been gathered with deep interview technique. Contributors are 33 Librarians and Members of Public libraries in autumn 2016. Sampling was done in a purposeful method and continued up to saturation on information. Data gathering was done at the same time with data gathering with thematic analysis approach. Results: Data analysis led to extraction of 13 main subjects, 16 sub-subjects and 22 subsidiary subjects in two main categories: internal and external factors. Internal factors include interest, spontaneity and authority, reading tenets, motives, need and goal, precedents, emotions, applicability, cognition, relation and interaction, and links. External factors related to institutions include sub-subjects such as family, education system, libraries, content creators, content distributors, and media. External factors related to conditions and facilities include sub-subjects like study fields, time, place, and media of reading. Conclusion. Results show that getting Pleasure reading not only depends on internal characteristics, but some external factors also will affect. Therefore, on the continuum of creating a pleasure to read, the person on one side and factors such as family, educational system, libraries and so on, on the other side, whose coordination and collaborative efforts are all giving pleasure to read.
