Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the familiarity of librarians and users of the Central Library of Islamic Azad University, Science and Research Branch of Tehran with Web 2. 0, on the implementation of Altimetrics. In essence, this study was an applied research and has been carried out using a Sequential-Explanatory Mixed Method Design. Therefore, a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods has been used. Questionnaires and structured interviews were used in quantitative and qualitative research. Two questionnaires were developed for librarians and users. The target population of this section was all librarians and users of the Library of Science and Research University in Tehran. Due to the limited number of librarians, sampling was not performed, but for users sample based on Morgan's table, Data were analyzed by SPSS. The Information Management System was created as the second part of the quantitative tool with the help of OMEKA. The target population of this section was all library users who used the system. Data was analyzed by Addthis. The qualitative part of the research was a general qualitative research method and the target society was considered as the whole librarian because of limited population. Structured interview was used and interviews with 12 librarians continued to be used to reach the consensus level. The results of quantitative part of the research show that using Virtual Media tools among target population has been evaluated below the average. Meanwhile, the use of Mobile messenger tools in both groups is moderate. Also, the analysis showed that the use of some Social Networks, including Mendly and Research Gate, has increased among users after the creation of The InformationManagement System. Based on the results of the qualitative part of the research, the use of Virtual Media among users and librarians has increased after implementation of the Altmetrics button. Creating The Information Management System at the library site and equipping it with the Altmetrics button and variety of Virtual Media tools expanded the users' use of Virtual Media and familiared them with Altmetrics. Librarians also took important steps to use the examined tools to better Services the library.
