Pages

  52-64

Abstract

The vulgar beliefs of each land represent the level of culture of society that has long been hired as poets' foundations. Beliefs rooted in ancient mythology and rituals have been prevalent in the poetry of various poets since ancient times and are still alive and well today. Hatef Isfahani is one of the twelfth-century AH poets and followers of the literary return style, whose folk and mythological beliefs appear in his poetry. This study is a descriptive-analytic study of "vulgar and Mythical Beliefs in Divan Hatef Isfahani". An exploration of Myths and beliefs in the past makes us familiar with the corners of the poet's mind. The purpose of this research is to answer the main question of the research: how alive and dynamic are the ancient Myths and beliefs in the world of Hattif's mind? And as a poet and practitioner, what do Myths and beliefs reflect in popular poetry? The findings of the study suggest that references to supernatural beings and beliefs in some astronomical beliefs, mythological personalities and stories form part of the mythological constituent elements of the Hatef Isfahani's poems, indicating his influence on ancient folk beliefs and mythological stories.
